Dorothy E. Steiner, 91, of Berne, IN, passed away at 10:40 PM on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Swiss Village in Berne, IN.  She was born on Wednesday, July 12, 1922, in Adams Co., IN.  She married Ernest Steiner on Sunday, August 30, 1953 in Berne, IN.  Dorothy was a graduate of Hartford Township High School. She worked for 32 years at Nussbaum Novelty in Berne. Dorothy enjoyed quilting and embroidering. She was a member of the West Missionary Church in Berne.

 

Survivors include: Husband - Ernest Steiner, Berne, IN., Brother - Frank Moser and Several Nieces & Nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her: Father - Jacob Moser, Mother - Lillian (Mertz) Moser, Brother - Harry Moser and Sister - Edwina Newhouser.

 

The family had a private graveside service for Dorothy on Monday, October 28, 2013 with Rev. Jerry Flueckiger officiating. Interment followed in the M.R.E. Cemetery in Berne.

Sarah L. Garrett, 83, of Hartford City, IN, passed away at 2:18 AM on Friday, October 25, 2013 at IU Health-Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, IN.  She was born on Wednesday, January 29, 1930, in Wells County, IN.  She married Charles M. Garrett on Sunday, November 07, 1948 in Keystone, IN.  Sarah graduated from Chester Center High School. She and her late husband did many things during their lifetime; farming, and were former owners of Hartford Automotive, Scotch Mist, and multiple trucking companies. In her free time Sarah enjoyed woodworking, painting, and gardening. She was heavily involved with the First Baptist Church located in Montpelier, IN. But above all else Sarah loved her family dearly.

A service to celebrate Sarah’s life will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 with the Pastor Bob Allen officiating.  Interment will follow in the Brookside Cemetery in Montpelier.

Jerry J. Kitterman, 69, of Montpelier, IN, passed away at 8:22 AM on Monday, October 28, 2013 at IU Health Blackford Hospital in Hartford City, IN.  He was born on Wednesday, October 25, 1944, in Bluffton, IN.  Jerry was a graduate of Montpelier High School and was a U.S. Army Veteran; serving from 1965-1971. He worked as a mechanic and welder for Dierkes Implement in Decatur, IN and Applegate Steel in Saratoga, IN. Jerry enjoyed metal working, reading, trains, watching Fox News, House and The History Channel.

 

Survivors include: Wife - Barb (Jordan) Kitterman, Montpelier, IN., Daughter - Melissa (Fiance, Mark Bean) Smith, Montpelier, IN., Daughter - Niki Moriarity, Montpelier, IN., Son - Rickey Moriarity, Montpelier, IN., Son - Allen Moriarity, Montpelier, IN., Son - Jerry Simpson, Marion, IN., 11 Grandchildren  and 8 Great Grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his: Father - Robert Kitterman, Mother - R. Jeanette (Ducy) Kitterman and 1st Wife - Marilyn (Jamison) Kitterman, who passed away on January 31, 1987.

Mary M. Moorehead

Mary M. Moorehead, 86, of Montpelier, IN, passed away at 12:35 AM on Monday, October 21, 2013 at her home in Montpelier.  She was born on Tuesday, June 21, 1927, in Prospect, NC. Mary graduated from Prospect High School and from Pfiefer University with her Education Degree, both of North Carolina. She also earned a Master’s Degree in Home Economics from Ball State University. Throughout her teaching career Mary taught at Rockcreek School in Wells Co., Roll School in Blackford Co., and Marion Schools in Grant Co. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Montpelier. Mary was also a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association (ISTA), Montpelier Tri Kappa, Delta Kappa Gamma and served on the Blackford Mental Health Board for many years. Mary enjoyed quilting, sewing and spending time with her family and friends. She was a dedicated mother, teacher and friend.

 

Survivors include: Daughter - Patricia M. (Husband, John) Maddox, Carmel, IN., Daughter - Jan M. (Husband, Martin) Daniel, Hartford City, IN., 6 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren and one Brother - James Moore, Pembroke, NC.

 

She was preceded in death by her: Father - Charlie H. Moore, Mother - Marie (Sampson) Moore, Brother - Charles Moore, Brother - Curtis Moore, Brother - Henry Moore, Sister - Carrie Dial, Sister - Marjorie Rhodes and Great Granddaughter- Delena Conklin.

 

Family and friends may join to celebrate Mary’s life at 11:00AM on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the Prospect United Methodist Church, 3929 Missouri Rd. Maxton, North Carolina with Rev. Dr. Kenneth Locklear and Rev. Dr. Robert Mangum officiating. Entombment will be in the Moore Family Cemetery in Prospect, NC.
