William “Bill” A. Wolverton, 91, of Van Wert, OH, formerly of Montpelier, IN., passed away at 3:30 AM on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Community Health Professionals in Van Wert.  He was born on Saturday, March 24, 1923, in Montpelier, IN.  He married Patricia Cary on Friday, August 25, 1944 in Ft. Lewis, WA.  Bill graduated from Montpelier High School in 1941. He retired from Indiana Corrugated in Warren, IN. He was a member of the Millard-Brown American Legion Post #156 of Montpelier, IN and was a WWII veteran serving in the US Army. He has been a past Commander of Post #156, past 4th district Commander, past department Vice Commander, past department membership Chairman, member of the Anavicus, Jay Blackford 40-8 Voiture 988, past Chef DeGabe, former member of the Montpelier Volunteer Fire Department and the Elks Lodge of Hartford City, IN. Bill and his wife enjoyed spending their winters in Winter Haven, FL and had been doing so since 1992. He had been a lifetime Blackford County resident until moving to Van Wert, OH 3 years ago. Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church in Montpelier, IN. He will always be remembered for his good sense of humor and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and entire community.

He was preceded in death by his: Father - Abner Wolverton and Mother - Elsie M. (Hoskins) Hawk.

A service to celebrate Bill’s life will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home at 4:00 PM on Saturday, June 28, 2014 with Pastor Bob Allen officiating.  Interment will follow in the Brookside Memorial Park in Montpelier. Graveside rites will be conducted by the Millard Brown American Legion Post #156.

Kenneth E. Ickes

Kenneth E. Ickes, 91, of Montpelier, IN, passed away at 11:40 PM on Saturday, June 14, 2014 in the ER of IU Health Blackford Hospital in Hartford City.  He was born on Friday, March 09, 1923, in Blackford County, IN.  He married Wilma Dean Crockett on Saturday, July 19, 1941 in Pennville.  He formerly worked at Overhead Door in Hartford City and retired as a machinist from Westinghouse in Muncie. Kenneth was a former member of the Hartford City Masonic Lodge, the Fort Wayne Valley of the Scottish Rite and the Crown City Cruisers. He enjoyed boating and fishing in his free time. Kenneth and his wife spent their winters in Inverness, FL.

 

Survivors include: Wife - Wilma Dean (Crockett) Ickes, Montpelier, IN., Son - John H. Ickes, Inverness, FL., Daughter - Nelva Forrester (Husband, Phil) Rogers, Hartford City, IN., Daughter - Kay (Husband, Larry) Kershner, Montpelier, IN., Daughter - Sue (Husband, Wayne) Felton, Brookville, IN., 12 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren and 2 Gr. Gr. Grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his: Father - Henry "Harmon" Ickes, Mother - Ina (Capper) Ickes, Daughter - Sandra Anne Ickes, Sister - Evelyn Cook, Sister - Marie Koch, Sister - Agatha Uptegraft, Brother - Raymond Ickes and Brother - Marion Ickes.

 

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home 109 W Windsor St Montpelier on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  A Masonic Service will be held at 7:30PM that evening.

 

A service to celebrate Kenneth’s life will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home at 10:30 AM on Thursday, June 19, 2014 with Minister John Hannum officiating.  Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Montpelier.

Margaret E. "Peg" (Hunnicutt) Butler, 84, of Warren, IN, passed away at 7:18 AM on Friday, June 06, 2014 at Heritage Pointe in Warren, IN.  She was born on Saturday, November 02, 1929, in Paris, IL.  She married Wayne Hunnicutt in 1946 in Bluffton, IN.  Wayne passed away in 1993.  Peg had worked at Erie Stone Quarry, Markle, IN for 20 years.  She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and traveling, especially to see lighthouses and covered bridges.  Peg also enjoyed spending time with her beloved yorkies. Ruth Marie (White) Bole

Ruth Marie (White) Bole, 87, of Van Buren, IN, passed away at 10:09 AM on Friday, June 13, 2014 at Heritage Pointe in Warren, IN.  She was born on Friday, June 25, 1926, in Grant County, IN.  She married Gerald L. "Dutch" Bole on Saturday, March 11, 1944.  Ruth was a graduate of Van Buren High School.  Ruth and Dutch share an eternal love that was marked by the celebration of their 70th wedding anniversary in March.  Ruth devoted much of her life to social and civic causes.  She held many leadership positions at the local, district  and state level of the American Legion Auxiliary, Brown-Doyle Unit 368, including being Parlimentarian of the local unit for 30 years and Past President of the 5th District.  Ruth also represented the voice of the community through political action.  She was acknowledged by a listing in the Who’s Who of Midwest Politics, and spearheaded the development of Rood Park in Van Buren.   She also worked for the Eastbrook Community School System for over 20 years.  Ruth was a member of the Van Buren United Methodist Church and was firm in her faith. Ruth was a woman of great personal strength and a dear friend to many.

Jeff "Red" Dunning, 52, of Bryant, IN, passed away at 9:43 AM on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at his residence in Bryant, IN. He was born on Tuesday, January 02, 1962, in Celina, OH. He attended Blissfield, MI High School.  He was an avid coonhunter and enjoyed fishing.  He was a member of the Bryant Coon Hunters Club and also was a logger.
