Ruth Alice "Peg" Christner

Ruth Alice "Peg" Christner, 98, of Warren, IN, passed away at 3:30 AM on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Heritage Pointe in Warren, IN.  She was born on Thursday, March 14, 1918, in Markle IN. Ruth graduated from Warren High School in 1935. After attending two years at Ball State College now known as University, she was hired to teach some 4th and 5th graders in Andrews, IN. After seven years there she went to teach 4th grade in Huntington. While teaching she took classes and finished two more years of college and got her degree. She started teaching in Warren, IN.  where she retired in 1983. Ruth Alice was a member of Tri Kappa, Chautaugua Club - (Reading Club), Indiana State Retired Teachers Assn., and Huntington County Retired Teachers Assn. Peg had been a member of the Warren U.M. Church known now as the Solid Rock U.M church since March 27, 1927. Some of her fondest memories date back to when she was teaching Sunday School and helping with Bible school. She will always be remembered  as an excellent example of Christian Leadership and faithfulness.

 

Loving Survivors Include: Daughter - Dianne (Husband, Thomas) Reidy, Grand Haven, MI,  Grandsons - Scott (Karen) Elliott, Jacksonville, FL, Jeffrey (Renee) Elliott, Dothan, AL, Great Grandchildren - Emma Grace Elliott,  Michael Edward Elliott, and Garrett Elliott.

 

 

She was preceded in death by her Father - Edgar John Ellerman, Mother - Annie (McCrum) Ellerman,

Brother - Max Ellerman, Sister - Mary Louise Crawford, and Former Husband - John Christner.

 

 

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Heritage Pointe Applegate Chapel 801 Huntington Ave. Warren on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

 

A service to celebrate her life will be at Heritage Pointe Applegate Chapel  at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 28, 2017 with the Rev. Ed Clark   officiating. Interment will be at a later date.

 

Preferred memorials:  Solid Rock United Methodist Scholarship Fund

Crystal Lee

Crystal I. (Gaiser) Lee, 89, of Warren, IN, formerly of Mt. Dora, FL, passed away at 9:48 PM on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Heritage Pointe in Warren.  She was born on Sunday, December 11, 1927, in Huntington County, IN.  She married Robert E. Lee on Sunday, August 10, 1947 in Liberty Center, IN; Robert passed away on November 24, 2010.  Crystal was a 1945 graduate of Warren High School and received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida in 1965. She was a devoted lifetime United Methodist. She worked at and attended the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Dora, FL; where she was a vocal and hand bell choir director for 12 years. Crystal and her husband lived in Florida from 1961-1986, where they raised their three children. Crystal was a music teacher and worked with a variety of public schools and churches throughout her career. Her love for music was her passion and she well known for her sense of humor. Crystal and Robert enjoyed square dancing and spent several years touring the country and living in Arizona. She was an avid quilter and won many awards for her works of art. Crystal and Robert retired to Warren in 2008.

 

Survivors include: Son - Stephen Lee, FL, Daughter - Christi (Wayde) Gutman, AZ, Daughter - Angela (David Nuss) Lee, Denver, CO, 5 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren, Brothers - Leon Gaiser, Montpelier, IN and Noel Gaiser, VT and Sister - Marilyn Miller, CA.

She was preceded in death by her: Father - Oka Gaiser, Mother - Estella Lockwood Gaiser, Stepmother - Marguerite Llewellyn Gaiser; Husband - Robert E. Lee and Sisters - Dorothy Beitelshees and Doris Burkhead.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no viewing hours or funeral services. Interment will take place next to her husband in the Lehman Cemetery in Payne, OH.

C. Dean Burgess

C. Dean Burgess, 69, of Portland, IN, passed away at 11:31 AM on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN.  He was born on Monday, January 19, 1948, in Adams County, IN.  He married Jeannie Lorraine (Rines) Burgess on Friday, April 05, 1985 in Jay County, IN.  C. Dean graduated in the last class to graduate from Geneva High School in 1966. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He had worked at Jinny's gas station in Bryant,IN, Bearcreek Crossing, Pak-A-Sak in Bryant, IN, and Pak-A-Sak in Berne, IN. He also transported Amish. C. Dean was a member of the Portland American Legion Post #211.

John R. Bailey Sr.

John R. Bailey, 68, of Poneto, IN, passed away at 9:18PM  on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at his residence in Poneto, IN.  He was born on Sunday, May 02, 1948, in Owensville, KY.  John attended Marion Schools. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Poneto, IN. John worked for Sterling Casting in Bluffton, IN for over 20 years.  He retired from Red Gold in Geneva. He truly loved working. He was a member of the Moyer-Pooler American Legion. John enjoyed Nascar, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Ruth Morgan Gee

Ruth Morgan Gee (1921-2017)

Ruth Morgan Gee (95) went home to be with her Lord on January 18, 2017 at Clarewood House in Houston, TX.  She was born April 2, 1921 in Lancaster, IN to D. Pearl and Hedley G. Morgan.  She is survived by daughter Clitha (Robert) Sutton, Pasco, WA; son Merrill (Lori) Doyle, Coronado, CA; five grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by husband William Gee, Houston, TX; two brothers in childhood; sisters Mildred Mulholland of Hammond, IN; Vera Roderick of Bloomington, IL; and grandson Paul Sutton, Pasco, WA.

Ruth graduated from Montpelier schools in 1938 and Ball State University in 1942.  She taught music for several years and then moved to Houston, TX in 1957.  She worked as secretary at Rice University School of Architecture for 15 years and secretary to the chief of staff at Texas Children’s Hospital for 25 years.

Ruth loved music and raising orchids.  Her skill with orchids resulted in her creating a hybrid Cattleya, the Cattleya Ruth Gee “Diamond Jubilee.”  A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
