Arthur Jay Winterholter, age 64, of Mt. Etna, passed away at 10:59 p.m. Saturday, January 24, at Marion General Hospital. Jay had several health issues over the past six months.
Jay was born May 20, 1950, in Huntington. He is the son of Arther F. and Mary Shideler Winterholter. His parents are deceased. Jay married Carol Cox at Morris Chapel Church, Grant County, on August 21, 1976. His wife survives in Mt. Etna. Other survivors include: a step-son, Dr. Eric Treadwell and wife, Lisa, of Indianapolis; two step-grandchildren, Owen Parrett and Helen Treadwell of Indianapolis; two brothers, Larry, Upland, IN and Jerry (Vadonna), Rangely, CO.
Jay attended Lancaster Elementary and Lancaster H.S. He graduated from Huntington High in 1968. He received his bachelor’s degree in physical education and health from Marion College (IWU) in 1974. Jay graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 1978. He was a police officer in Kendallville for 2½ years and retired from the Huntington City Police Department in 2002 after 24½ years. Jay was a member of the FOP, Lodge 77, the NRA, and Lancaster Wesleyan Church. He was saved at the age of 14 during a revival meeting at Lancaster Wesleyan and he served the Lord faithfully from that moment on. His faith never wavered.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Glancy-H.Brown & Son Funeral Home, 203 N Matilda, Warren and one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Lancaster Wesleyan Church, 3149 W 543 S, Huntington. Pastor Doug Sharrard will officiate. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery, Huntington County.
