Susan E. Bothast, 68, of Montpelier, IN, passed away at 6:56 AM on Monday, November 04, 2013 at Bluffton Regional Medical Center in Bluffton, IN.  She was born on Saturday, June 16, 1945, in Jay Co.,IN.  She married Rev. Robert C. Bothast on Thursday, July 04, 1963 at the Olive Branch Church of the Nazarene, rural Hartford City, IN.  Mrs. Bothast was a 1963 graduate of Montpelier High School. She was the music minister at the Warren First Baptist Church for seven years. She was a member of the Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene in Montpelier and attended the First Baptist Church in Warren. Mrs. Bothast formerly worked for Peyton’s Northern in Bluffton. She enjoyed the ministry of music, but most of all Mrs. Bothast enjoyed spending time with her family.

A Funeral Service will be held at Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene 440 N. Standard Blvd. Montpelier at 10:30 AM on Friday, November 08, 2013 with Pastor Bill Fisher, Pastor Laura High, Pastor Scott Lamperd and Rev. Billy Stanton officiating.  Interment will follow in the Brookside Cemetery in Montpelier.

Cory Michael Gerhart

Cory Michael Gerhart, 36, of Hartford City, IN formerly of Alexandria, passed away October 31, 2013 at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne.  He was born on May 03, 1977, in Anderson, IN.  Cory was a 1995 graduate of Alexandria-Monroe High School and he also attended Purdue University. In 1998 Cory received his Real Estate Sales Personal License from Indianapolis and in 2005 he received his Brokers Licenses from the Tucker School of Real Estate in Indianapolis. He was a member of the Anderson Madison Co. Association of Realtors (AMCAR) and had multiple Real Estate Owned (REO) certificates with many different banks and asset management companies in the surrounding areas. Cory enjoyed volunteering at the Christian Center in Anderson and was involved in the "Awana" children's program in Alexandria. He enjoyed fishing, hiking at Mounds State Park, music, animals, especially his kitty Tigger, but most of all he loved being “Uncle” to his 5 nephews.

He was preceded in death by his: Maternal Grandparents - Quentin & Byrdine Fox, Special Uncle - Robert Stewart and Special Aunt - Sissie Allene Small.

 

Visitation will be held at Grace United Methodist Church 312 W Washington St Hartford City, IN 47348 on Saturday, November 09, 2013 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.  A memorial service to celebrate Cory’s life will follow with the Rev. Dr. Gary Hall officiating.

Dorothy E. Steiner

Dorothy E. Steiner, 91, of Berne, IN, passed away at 10:40 PM on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Swiss Village in Berne, IN.  She was born on Wednesday, July 12, 1922, in Adams Co., IN.  She married Ernest Steiner on Sunday, August 30, 1953 in Berne, IN.  Dorothy was a graduate of Hartford Township High School. She worked for 32 years at Nussbaum Novelty in Berne. Dorothy enjoyed quilting and embroidering. She was a member of the West Missionary Church in Berne.

 

Survivors include: Husband - Ernest Steiner, Berne, IN., Brother - Frank Moser and Several Nieces & Nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her: Father - Jacob Moser, Mother - Lillian (Mertz) Moser, Brother - Harry Moser and Sister - Edwina Newhouser.

 

The family had a private graveside service for Dorothy on Monday, October 28, 2013 with Rev. Jerry Flueckiger officiating. Interment followed in the M.R.E. Cemetery in Berne.

Evelyn A. Purdy, 80, of Berne, IN, passed away at 12:04 AM on Monday, November 04, 2013 at Swiss Village in Berne, IN.  She was born on Saturday, February 18, 1933, in Adams County, IN.  She married her High School sweetheart, Roscoe J. Purdy on Sunday, June 17, 1951 in Geneva, Indiana.  Evelyn was a 1951 graduate of Geneva High School. She was a lifelong member of High Street United Methodist Church and gave freely of her time to various committees and organizations in the church. She loved IU Basketball with unapologetic enthusiasm. She delighted in playful dogs, sunny weather, gospel music, and rocking newborn babies. Evelyn thought going to church on Sunday was the most important thing she did all week. Her cheerfulness and ready smile will be missed by her family and friends.

 

Survivors include her Son - George Purdy, Morgantown, IN, 2 Daughters - Luann Ford, Portland, IN, Kathy (Husband Tim) Liechty, Berne, IN, her 5 Grandchildren, and 7 Great Grandchildren.

 

 She was preceded in death by her Husband - Roscoe J. Purdy, Father - Eugene Snow, Mother - Leona (Kneuss) Snow, and Brother - Donald F. Snow.

Bole, 77, of Hartford City, IN, passed away at 5:52 PM on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at IU Health-Blackford Hospital in Hartford City, IN.  She was born on Thursday, August 20, 1936, in Wells Co., IN.  She married Charles K. Bole on Wednesday, May 26, 1954 in Hartford City, IN.  Shirley was a 1954 graduate of Hartford City High School. She enjoyed writing poems and letters, sewing, playing the piano and organ. Shirley spent most of her time making others happy and she especially loved being with her family.  She was a member of the Olive Branch Church of the Nazarene in rural Hartford City, IN.
